Unico Properties selected Time Equipment Company to modernize parking systems in two additional locations in Seattle:  1200 5th Building (formerly the IBM Building) and Financial Center at 1215 4th Ave.

The 1200 5th Building is a 20-story, 234,000+ square foot building in the Metropolitan Tract of downtown Seattle.  The building was designed by Minoru Yamasaki, who also was the architect of the Rainier Tower on the corner diagonally opposite the building.  The structural design served as the prototype for Yamasaki’s project of the World Trade Center in New York City.  Construction was completed in October 1964 and later renovated in 2020.  This building is on the former site of the Seattle Ice Arena, home of the 1917 Seattle Metropolitans Stanley Cup Champions.

Financial Center is a 28-story, 300,000+ square foot building completed in 1972 and later renovated in 2001.  The Great Northern Railroad had a tunnel that ran under the property’s southwest corner and still runs today.  Two caissons, the largest in the world at the time, were required to support the building.

Unico Properties chose Time Equipment Company because the TIBA SPARK Suite Platform can manage these new sites and Unico’s existing location at Puget Sound Plaza.  This cloud-based web environment allows parking operators and owners to control, manage, and monitor all their facilities from a central location.  SPARK can be accessed from any Internet-ready device — virtually anywhere in the world.

Time Equipment Company installed new TIBA MP-60 entry and SW-60 exit terminals at each location and the CPS-60 Credit Card Pay Station in the lobby.  In addition, articulating Magnetic Gates were installed for entry and exit lanes.
